Crowley House

The Crowley House is a historic residence located at 2522 Pleasant Way in Thousand Oaks. Built in 1910 by Frank Crowley for himself and his wife, the home originally stood along El Camino Real on what was then part of Newbury Ranch. Over time, it became an important early structure in the development of the Conejo Valley and was even referred to as the “Mother of Thousand Oaks” for its role in local real estate activity during the 1920s.

The house later became associated with Louis and Kathy Goebel, founders of Jungleland, the famous animal training facility and theme park that once occupied nearby property. The residence sits on land tied to that historic Jungleland property, connecting it to Thousand Oaks’ early film and tourism history. Today, the property is owned by the Conejo Recreation and Park District and is undergoing renovation as part of ongoing preservation efforts. The Crowley House is formally recognized as Ventura County Historical Landmark No. 109 and City of Thousand Oaks Historical Landmark No. 7.
