Hunt Olive Tree

The Historic Olive Tree is located at 600 W. Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks, California. Planted by early Conejo Valley settler Richard Hunt, the tree stands as a living reminder of the area’s agricultural roots.

In 1881, Richard Orville Hunt, a wagonmaker from Santa Barbara, relocated to the Conejo Valley with his wife, Mary Jane. The couple purchased approximately 950 acres in what is now known as Lynn Ranch and Wildwood. They moved to Conejo Valley in 1888 and named their ranch “The Salto,” after nearby Salto Creek.

The surviving olive tree is recognized for its historically agricultural significance as both City of Thousand Oaks Landmark No. 4 and Ventura County Landmark No. 64.
