Pederson House

The historic Pederson House, located on Faculty Street in Thousand Oaks, was built in 1913–1914 as part of the Pederson family ranch. It is one of the few remaining buildings connected to the early settlement of the Conejo Valley and reflects the area’s agricultural past. The Pederson family were part of the Norwegian Colony, a group of settlers who arrived in the 1890s and helped establish farming and community life in the region.

Richard Pederson later donated a large portion of the family’s land for the creation of California Lutheran University. Today, the Pederson House is preserved on campus and used by the university’s music department. A statue of Richard Pederson on campus recognizes his contribution.

The Pederson House and Water Tower are designated as Ventura County Historic Landmark No. 45 and City of Thousand Oaks Historical Landmark No. 3.
